Again, Katsina Residents Attack APC Supporters, Burn Vehicles While Going For Gov Radda’s Campaign

According to Channel Television News, suspected hoodlums have attacked supporters of the All Progressives Congress in Yankara town, Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State, leaving several people injured and a campaign vehicle burnt.

The incident occurred on Saturday as party supporters travelled to attend the campaign rally of Governor Dikko Umaru Radda ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Eyewitnesses alleged that angry youths blocked the route expected to be used by the campaign convoy, disrupting movement and triggering panic in the area.

The Caucus Chairman of the Musa Adamu Network, Alhaji Nura Sule Yandaki, said he and 11 members of his team were on their way to the rally when the violence erupted.

According to Yandaki, tension arose while members of an Islamic group were conducting a Maulud procession, during which some hoodlums allegedly attacked vehicles conveying APC supporters. A vehicle belonging to the Musa Adamu Network was reportedly set ablaze.

A witness also claimed that two APC supporters sustained fatal injuries during the incident. However, the claim had not been independently verified, and the police had yet to issue an official statement as of 9:10 p.m. on Saturday.

The Secretary of the Musa Adamu Network, Shamsuddeen Sani Lema, condemned the attack and called on security agencies to identify and prosecute those responsible. He said political activities should not be accompanied by violence or intimidation.

Despite the reported incident, Radda proceeded with the Tinubu-Dikko 2027 campaign rally in Faskari, where he highlighted his administration’s achievements in healthcare, education, security and infrastructure.

The governor announced that the Faskari General Hospital had been completed and opened, describing the development as the fulfilment of a promise made during an earlier campaign visit.

He also cited ongoing road construction, school renovation and other interventions, expressing his administration’s commitment to improving security and creating an environment conducive to economic activities.

Earlier, the Director-General of the Tinubu-Dikko 2027 Campaign Council, Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, praised the turnout at the rally and urged party members, youths and women to intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 elections.

Katsina APC Chairman, Bishir Saulawa, also assured supporters that the party would pursue a peaceful, issue-based campaign focused on its achievements rather than insults or divisive politics.

The latest incident has raised fresh concerns about the safety of political supporters during campaign activities in the state, with calls for security agencies to investigate the attack and bring those responsible to justice.
