A Debt Settled in Blood: Shea Butter CEO and Uncle Gunned Down Over GH¢500,000 in Sakumono

Tragedy has struck the close-knit community of NTHC Estate in Sakumono, Accra, following the brutal killing of a budding entrepreneur and her elderly uncle in what police believe was a targeted attack stemming from a simmering financial dispute.

The deceased have been identified as Irene Atuguba, the Chief Executive Officer of Kussa Shea Bliss, a promising shea butter enterprise, and her uncle, George Atuguba. The two were reportedly shot dead at the NTHC Estate residence by assailants believed to be connected to a prime suspect, Samuel Anto.

According to preliminary police investigations, the gruesome incident was triggered by a GH¢500,000 debt that the late George Atuguba allegedly owed to Samuel Anto. The dispute, which sources say had been brewing for some time, allegedly escalated to a fatal confrontation, claiming the lives of both the businessman and his niece, who was reportedly caught in the crossfire.

The shocking murder has left residents of Sakumono in disbelief and raised concerns about the growing trend of violent debt recovery and personal disputes turning deadly in the country. The Ghana Police Service has since launched a manhunt for Samuel Anto, the prime suspect, and his accomplices, appealing to the public for any information that could lead to their arrest.

The deaths of Irene Atuguba, a vibrant force in the shea butter industry, and her uncle have cast a dark shadow over the community. The Ghana Police Service has assured the public that a thorough investigation is underway and that the perpetrators will be brought to justice, while the bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the morgue for autopsy and preservation.

As the nation grapples with this senseless tragedy, the Kussa Shea Bliss brand and the Atuguba family mourn a devastating loss that has not only claimed lives but also highlighted the deadly consequences of unresolved financial grievances.
