VeryDarkMan Declares Himself Bigger Than GehGeh, Nigerian Celebrities
Nigerian social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has sparked reactions online after declaring that he considers himself more influential than Nigerian musicians, celebrities and fellow social media personalities.
The outspoken activist made the statement while speaking about how he measures influence and personal achievements, insisting that his impact on people’s lives places him on a different level from other entertainers and influencers.
According to VeryDarkMan, he does not measure success by the amount of money someone possesses, the luxury cars they drive or the houses they own. Instead, he evaluates people’s relevance based on how many lives they have positively affected.
He maintained that, by his definition of influence, no Nigerian celebrity comes close to his level of impact.
βI swear to God, for the whole of Nigeria, I donβt see a celebrity bigger than me. I keep saying it one million times,β he declared.
He further explained that while many people focus on wealth, expensive cars and luxurious lifestyles when assessing success, his priority is the number of people who have benefited from an individual’s actions.
βUna dey look money, dey look car, dey look house. Those are not my own balance. Those are not things I look as big. I wan know their impact. How many people don benefit from you? I’m not their mate. We are not on the same level,β he said.
The remarks have attracted attention from social media users, particularly amid his recurring exchanges with other online personalities, including financial commentator GehGeh.
GehGeh recently criticised VeryDarkMan over his decision to venture into the solar energy business, arguing that selling alternative power solutions could undermine his activism, which frequently focuses on government accountability and Nigeria’s electricity challenges. He advised him to consider investing in construction instead.
VeryDarkMan has also been involved in public disagreements with several celebrities and entertainers, including singer Davido, particularly over political issues and public accountability.
In October 2026, he defended his criticism of Davido, maintaining that personal relationships should not prevent him from speaking against actions he considers detrimental to the country’s interests.
In another recent statement, the activist dismissed suggestions that he targets celebrities to attract attention, insisting that his primary objective is to create awareness.
He also claimed that his Facebook account generates between 300 million and 500 million views monthly, excluding his audiences on Instagram, TikTok and YouTube.
His latest comments have reignited conversations about the meaning of influence, social impact and celebrity status, with social media users divided over whether popularity should be measured by wealth, entertainment value or tangible contributions to society.
