Ulinzi Stars Remain In Relegation Zone After Defeat To Kenya Police

Kenya Police FC finally have their first victory of the 2026/27 FKF Premier League season after Elvis Rupia’s goal secured a 1-0 triumph over Ulinzi Stars in the Disciplined Forces Derby at Police Sacco Stadium on Thursday.

The victory provided relief for the Law Enforcers, who had managed only two draws and a defeat in their opening three matches.

It also lifted them to eighth position in the standings, while Ulinzi remained 17th, deep in the relegation zone.

Both teams entered the encounter under pressure to collect maximum points after struggling to find consistency at the start of the campaign.

Police made their intentions clear early on, with Rupia finding space inside the opening minute before sending his effort into the side netting.

Ulinzi responded through Boniface Muchiri, whose third-minute free-kick appeared destined for the net before Kevin Ouma cleared the danger off the line.

Alex Masinde also missed an opportunity from a corner as the Soldiers attempted to take control.

The breakthrough eventually came in the 24th minute. Victor Haki split the Ulinzi defence with a well-weighted pass, allowing Rupia to get behind the backline and beat the goalkeeper to put Police ahead.

The hosts carried their advantage into the interval, leaving Ulinzi with the task of finding a response after the restart.

The military side increased their attacking efforts in the second half but struggled to find a way past the Police defence.

Muchiri came closest to restoring parity in the 80th minute when he unleashed a powerful effort from the edge of the penalty area.

Ulinzi continued searching for an equaliser, but Police managed the closing stages to secure all three points.

The defeat extends Ulinzi’s difficult start and leaves them with more work to do as they seek to climb away from the relegation places.
