Tlou Segolela Backs Orlando Pirates to Overcome Kaizer Chiefs in Soweto Derby

Former Orlando Pirates winger Tlou Segolela believes the Buccaneers have what it takes to defeat Kaizer Chiefs when the two Soweto giants meet at FNB Stadium on Saturday, October 31, 2026.

The highly anticipated encounter is expected to attract significant attention from football supporters across South Africa, with both teams eager to secure bragging rights in one of the country’s biggest football rivalries.

Segolela, who previously represented Orlando Pirates during his playing career, does not appear overly concerned about the challenge that Kaizer Chiefs could present to the Buccaneers. He believes the current form of his former club puts them in a strong position heading into the derby.

Orlando Pirates have enjoyed an impressive period, producing encouraging performances and demonstrating their quality in different areas of the pitch. Their attacking players have shown confidence, while the team’s overall organisation has helped them maintain positive results.

The Buccaneers will be hoping to carry that momentum into Saturday’s encounter as they look to add another important victory to their season. Winning against their biggest rivals would also strengthen their position and give their supporters another reason to celebrate.

However, despite Segolela’s confidence in Pirates, Kaizer Chiefs should not be underestimated. The Glamour Boys understand the importance of this fixture and will be determined to prevent their rivals from dominating proceedings.

Chiefs will also recognise that the Soweto Derby offers an opportunity to make a statement. A victory would provide a significant confidence boost for the players, coaching staff and supporters, particularly given the pressure that comes with facing Orlando Pirates.

The rivalry between the two clubs has produced several memorable encounters over the years. Regardless of their respective positions or recent results, both teams understand that derby matches often bring unexpected moments.

For Pirates, maintaining concentration and taking advantage of scoring opportunities will be important. Chiefs, meanwhile, will need to remain defensively organised while making the most of their attacking chances.

Segolela’s backing will certainly encourage Orlando Pirates supporters, who will be hoping that their team can justify the confidence placed in them.

With the two Soweto giants preparing for another meeting, attention now turns to FNB Stadium, where the Buccaneers and the Glamour Boys will battle for supremacy.

As always, the Soweto Derby promises excitement, passion and an opportunity for one side to claim bragging rights over their biggest rivals.
