Tinubu approves East-West super grid, targets 19,000MW generation

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the commencement of procurement for the proposed East and West Super Grid, a federal initiative designed to ramp up Nigeria’s electricity transmission capacity from approximately 5,000 megawatts to 19,000MW within two years.Speaking after a Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting in Abuja, Minister of Power Joseph Tegbe explained that the upcoming corridors will traverse both northern and southern regions to reinforce the existing network and accommodate an available generation capacity exceeding 13,000MW.
