SASSA November Payment Dates Changed Check When Your Grant Will Be Paid
The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has changed its social grant payment dates for November 2026 to make way for the local government elections. Payments will start on 30 October 2026, with each grant type paid on a different day.
Older Persons Grant beneficiaries should receive their money on Friday, 30 October. Disability Grant payments are set for Monday, 2 November, and children’s grants will follow on Tuesday, 3 November. Thursday, 5 November, is set aside for beneficiaries whose grants are under review, and payment on that day depends on eligibility checks.
SASSA says the new timetable is a once-off arrangement linked to the local government elections on 4 November. National Treasury approved the change after consultations aimed at limiting disruption during the election period. The normal payment schedule is not changing permanently, and the dates from December 2026 to March 2027 stay the same. More details are available in the SAnews announcement and on the Department of Social Development website.
Beneficiaries do not have to withdraw their money on payment day. Funds paid into a bank account can generally stay there until they are needed. People who collect their grants through a retailer should make sure their card or account is active and follow the instructions of their payment provider.
Those whose grants are under review should read their SASSA messages, respond to any requests and attend appointments when asked to. Ignoring a review notice or failing to hand in documents could affect their payment. If a grant has not arrived after the relevant date, beneficiaries should check its status and contact SASSA through official channels or visit a local office.
The SRD R370 grant follows a separate process and does not share the three-day schedule for older persons, disability and children’s grants. Applicants should check the official SRD website for updates on approval and payment.
SASSA advises people to rely on official announcements and not on rumours on social media. Beneficiaries should never share identity numbers, banking details or one-time passwords with anyone who claims they can speed up a payment. Keeping contact details up to date also helps make sure important notices are not missed.
For help, beneficiaries can call SASSA’s toll-free line on 0800 60 10 11. It is a good idea to confirm details online before travelling or making any financial plans for collection.
