Ruto Announces Five Major Deals With Russia, Opens Door for Investment in Kenya’s Infrastructure
President William Ruto has announced that Kenya and Russia have signed five agreements aimed at strengthening cooperation between the two countries, marking another step in their growing diplomatic and economic relationship.
The President said the agreements would create fresh opportunities for both nations to work together in areas of mutual interest. He expressed optimism that the partnership would open new doors for trade, investment and development.
During discussions with Russian representatives, Ruto invited investors from Russia to consider putting their money into major infrastructure projects in Kenya. He specifically highlighted the Port of Mombasa, road networks and railway development as key areas that could attract foreign investment.
The Head of State noted that Kenya has significant investment opportunities and is ready to work with international partners willing to support its development agenda.
The Port of Mombasa remains one of the country’s most important economic facilities, serving as a major gateway for goods entering and leaving Kenya and other countries in the region. Expanding its capacity could strengthen trade and improve the movement of cargo.
Ruto also pointed to roads and railway infrastructure, which play an important role in connecting businesses, communities and markets. More investment in these sectors could help improve transport services and support economic activities.
The agreements are expected to provide a foundation for deeper engagement between Nairobi and Moscow as both countries explore areas where their interests meet.
Kenya has continued to seek international partnerships to attract capital, improve infrastructure and create opportunities for economic growth.
The President’s invitation to Russian investors signals his administration’s intention to widen Kenya’s investment partnerships beyond traditional development partners.
However, the impact of the agreements will largely depend on how quickly the commitments are translated into practical projects that benefit Kenyans.
