Kenyans Stunned as Ruto Look-Alike Makes Surprise Appearance at Sifuna’s Linda Mwananchi Event
A familiar face at Edwin Sifuna’s Linda Mwananchi event sparked online conversation after users spotted a man they said resembles President William Ruto. The man appeared in photographs shared by the Nairobi senator following the opening of the movement’s headquarters.
The man, who wore a hat, was not identified in the information shared publicly. However, his appearance caught commenters’ attention, with some joking about whether the Head of State had also joined Sifuna’s political outfit in Nairobi at the event.
One social media user asked, “Kwani Ruto pia ni member,” suggesting the resemblance was striking. Another commenter wrote, “Uyo sio Uliam?” as the photograph continued attracting reactions from people following the event online and sharing their own observations online too.
Other users joined the exchange, with one asking, “Huyo ni nani anakaa Ruto.” Another made a playful reference to “doktari uliam”, while a different commenter urged people to stop repeatedly mentioning the President in the comment section of Sifuna’s post.
The reactions turned the unidentified guest into an unexpected talking point around an event whose main purpose was opening the Linda Mwananchi Movement’s national headquarters. Sifuna shared the images, giving online users a glimpse of the gathering in Lavington, Nairobi.
The opening took place on Friday, October 30, 2026, as the political outfit continued putting structures in place ahead of the 2027 General Election. The movement is establishing itself following its transition from The Equitable Party, formerly known as TEP.
Several opposition figures attended the Friday event, giving the launch ceremony political significance. Those present included Democracy for the Citizens Party leader Rigathi Gachagua, Wiper Patriotic Front leader Kalonzo Musyoka and Democratic Action Party-Kenya leader Eugene Wamalwa at the Nairobi launch.
The gathering brought together leaders from different opposition formations as political players position themselves ahead of the next General Election. Sifuna’s movement has been working to establish its headquarters and organise operations as preparations for the 2027 polls continue.
Although the look-alike’s identity was not disclosed, the comments showed how quickly a photograph can attract attention beyond its original purpose. For some users, the resemblance to Ruto became the most memorable detail in the pictures shared from the launch.
Despite the online jokes, there was no indication that President Ruto attended the event or that the man pictured was related to him. The conversation centred on the perceived resemblance, while the gathering focused on Sifuna’s political movement and organisation.
