“Hii Ujinga Naona Hapa”: Crowd Goes Silent as Kalonzo Delivers Strong Message to Sifuna Face-to-Face
Kalonzo Musyoka has issued a strong warning to supporters of the Linda Mwananchi Movement, urging opposition leaders to put aside their differences and focus on challenging President William Ruto ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Speaking during the launch of the Linda Mwananchi Party on Friday, October 30, the Wiper Party leader appeared concerned about divisions among opposition leaders as they continue discussing who should carry their presidential ticket.
Kalonzo warned that continued disagreements could give Ruto an advantage in the next election.
“HII ujinga naona hapa tukiendelea RUTO atatukula mchana peupe,” Kalonzo told the supporters.
The remarks came after the former Vice President faced interruptions from sections of the crowd while addressing the gathering. Some supporters repeatedly chanted Edwin Sifuna’s name, forcing Kalonzo to pause his speech.
The Wiper leader had earlier told Sifuna to wait until November 13 before he could be treated as a fellow presidential candidate.
He made the remarks as supporters continued interrupting him and demanding that he publicly declare his support for Sifuna’s presidential ambitions.
The Wiper leader had earlier questioned why some people were already presenting Sifuna as a presidential candidate before the necessary party procedures had been completed.
He reminded the Nairobi senator that November 13 would be an important date when Linda Mwananchi is expected to hold its National Delegates Convention.
Kalonzo also challenged the supporters to understand that the opposition could not afford unnecessary disagreements when preparing to face Ruto in the next election.
The incident forced Sifuna to intervene and ask the crowd to respect the invited leaders. He reminded his supporters that opposition unity required listening to different leaders even when they disagreed with their positions.
Despite the tension, Kalonzo maintained that he was ready to support Sifuna if he was selected as the opposition’s presidential candidate.
The launch brought together several opposition figures, including former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and DAP-K leader Eugene Wamalwa.
Their presence highlighted ongoing efforts to build a united opposition ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Kalonzo’s warning now raises questions about whether the opposition will manage to settle its internal differences before facing Ruto at the ballot.
