FKF Recognises Three Kenyan Referees Following Successful Zimbabwe Assignment

The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has congratulated three Kenyan referees for their successful participation in officiating matches in Zimbabwe’s Premier Soccer League (PSL).

In a statement shared on Thursday, October 29, the federation recognised Peter Kamaku, Stephen Yiembe and Gilbert Cheruiyot for their professional performance during their international assignment.

FKF praised the trio for representing Kenya well, noting that their involvement in foreign competitions reflects the growing recognition of the country’s match officials beyond its borders.

“Congratulations to Peter Kamaku, Stephen Yiembe and Gilbert Cheruiyot for another international assignment well delivered in Zimbabwe’s PSL,” the federation stated.

The recognition highlights the increasing opportunities available to Kenyan referees to officiate football matches in other countries. Such assignments allow officials to gain valuable experience, interact with different football environments and improve their ability to handle competitive fixtures.

The federation also linked the achievement to ongoing efforts to strengthen the quality of refereeing in Kenya. It expressed confidence that local officials are making progress towards securing more opportunities on the international stage.

“Kenyan referees continue to earn their place on the international stage, a sign that we are on the right track in developing quality match officials,” FKF added.

Although the federation did not disclose the specific matches handled by the three referees, its message showed satisfaction with their contribution during the Zimbabwe assignment.

The development is an encouraging milestone for Kenyan football, as international exposure can help match officials improve their skills and build confidence.

FKF’s recognition also sends a positive message to other local referees aspiring to officiate in major competitions across Africa and beyond.

The federation’s continued support for match officials is expected to strengthen Kenya’s presence in international football.
