A Car Dealer in Botswana Cried Out After a Woman Used SA Identity to Steal His Car & Moved to Zim

A car dealer in Botswana has issued an urgent appeal to the public for assistance in locating a rental vehicle that reportedly went missing after being driven across the border into Zimbabwe. The incident has raised concerns for the vehicle’s owner, who is desperately seeking information that could lead to its recovery.

According to information shared by the car dealer, the vehicle was rented on 6 October 2026 by a woman who reportedly presented a South African passport bearing the name Bophelo Prudence Mugodi.

The dealer further identified the woman as someone who allegedly uses the name Prudy Mphungwa on Facebook and is believed to be from Vosloorus, a township in South Africa.

At the time of the rental agreement, the woman reportedly informed the dealer that she intended to travel from Botswana to Zimbabwe for a visit to Matobo National Park, a popular tourist destination known for its remarkable rock formations, wildlife, and historical significance.

Her stated travel plans reportedly involved crossing the international border into Zimbabwe before returning the vehicle to its owner in accordance with the rental arrangement.

However, the situation allegedly took an unexpected turn after she entered Zimbabwe.

According to the dealer’s account, the vehicle was not returned as expected, leaving the owner increasingly concerned about its whereabouts.

The circumstances surrounding the vehicle’s disappearance remain unclear, including whether it is still within Zimbabwe or has subsequently been moved elsewhere.

The car dealer has now turned to members of the public, particularly those living in Botswana, Zimbabwe, and South Africa, hoping that someone may have information that could assist in locating the missing vehicle.

The owner is reportedly distressed by the situation and is appealing to anyone who may have encountered the vehicle or possesses relevant information to come forward.

The appeal also seeks information that could help establish contact with the woman who rented the vehicle and clarify what happened after she crossed into Zimbabwe.

Although the dealer has publicly identified the renter, the allegations have not been independently verified, and no official findings establishing criminal wrongdoing have been provided.

Members of the public are therefore encouraged to avoid speculation or making unsubstantiated accusations while allowing the appropriate authorities to establish the facts.

Anyone with credible information about the missing vehicle is encouraged to contact the relevant law enforcement authorities or the car dealer through verified channels.

The owner remains hopeful that increased public awareness will generate useful leads and ultimately result in the safe recovery of the vehicle.

For now, the appeal continues as the dealer awaits information that could help resolve the matter.
