‘WE ARE NOT DATING’ – MzVee Clears Air on Kofi Kinaata and Mugeez Romance Rumours

Ghanaian singer MzVee has finally addressed persistent rumours about her alleged romantic relationships with fellow musicians Kofi Kinaata and Mugeez of R2Bees, making it clear that she is not dating either artist.

Speaking during a TikTok Live session, the award-winning singer expressed surprise at the speculation, questioning how her professional relationships with the two musicians had been interpreted as romantic affairs.

Responding to questions about Kofi Kinaata, MzVee wondered why some fans were suggesting that she should marry the Takoradi-based musician.

“Why do I need to marry Kofi Kinaata? Why? I think he’s married,” she remarked.

She explained that her relationship with the Things Fall Apart hitmaker has always been based on friendship and mutual respect, adding that they rarely communicate.

“Kofi Kinaata and I are friends, great colleagues. We talk once in a blue moon, and we have great respect for each other. But we are not dating,” she stated emphatically.

MzVee further revealed that the dating rumours had surprised both of them, as neither understood how the speculation began.

“Can you tell me when the rumour started? What happened? Because it shocks the two of us. We don’t know where it came from,” she said.

Despite dismissing the romantic claims, she praised Kofi Kinaata’s musical talent, describing him as an amazing artiste whose work she admires.

“Kofi Kinaata and I respect each other. He’s an amazing artiste, and we vibe on that level. And that’s that,” she explained.

The conversation subsequently shifted to Mugeez, one half of the celebrated Ghanaian music duo R2Bees, whose name has also been linked to the singer in romantic speculation.

Reacting to the question, MzVee described Mugeez as a legendary musician and a respected colleague with whom she shares a cordial relationship.

“Mugeez is legendary. Another very respected artiste. I respect him very much. He’s my friend,” she said.

She acknowledged that they had collaborated musically and occasionally communicated but maintained that their relationship had never extended beyond friendship.

“We’ve made music together. We do chat, but that’s where it ends. I think that we appreciate each other as human beings and as musicians. And that’s that,” she clarified.

In a lighthearted response to fans hoping for a romantic relationship between her and Mugeez, the singer urged them to stop entertaining such expectations.

“So all of you wishing for things to happen, please, I beg you. I’m sure Mugeez has a girlfriend. I should call him to tell us if he has a girlfriend or not, right?” she joked.

MzVee’s comments bring clarity to the speculation surrounding her relationships with the two musicians, emphasising that mutual admiration and professional collaborations should not automatically be interpreted as romantic involvement.

While the singer acknowledged her friendship with both artistes, she firmly maintained that neither relationship was romantic.
