The head coach of the Black Maidens of Ghana, Joe Nana Adarkwah, has backed his team to progress beyond the quarter-finals at the 2026 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup.
The coach and his team are through to the quarter-finals of the ongoing tournament in Morocco after defeating Argentina on penalties in the Round of 16.
Speaking after the Argentina match, Joe Nana Adarkwah praised his players for a good performance, indicating that he is happy with the result.
“Yeah, we controlled the game from the start until the red card. But tactically, the girls played to the instructions until they equalised. Let’s thank God that we won the match through penalties. We are happy about the win,” the coach said in his post-match interview.
After reaching the quarter-finals, Ghana will face the winner of the Round of 16 tie between Japan and Kenya.
According to Joe Nana Adarkwah, the Black Maidens will be ready to eliminate any opponent in the next round.
“We are waiting for our next opponent, and we will deal with them, whatever it is. We have to qualify to the semi-finals,” the coach added.
