Tope Knows Me Well. He Has My Number. He Has My Wife’s Number. Even My Children’s Number-Okorocha

Tope Knows Me Well. He Has My Number. He Has My Wife’s Number. Even My Children’s Number-Okorocha

According to Rochas Okorocha, former Governor of Imo State, who spoke in an interview on Channels TV on Thursday, October 28, 2026, something is wrong with investigative journalism in Nigeria over his false arrest report.

He questioned how the police could have called Channels TV, TVC, Arise TV, Vanguard and Punch newspapers at the same time to announce his arrest for forgery.

He said the claim by all the media houses that the police told them about his arrest was unbelievable and showed a lack of proper investigation.

He said, “I was imagining, police will call Channels at the same time, call you, call TVC, call Arise, call Vanguard, Punch, all at the same time. I mean, something is wrong with our investigative journalism.”

Okorocha said if the media had gone deep into investigative journalism and examined the documents in question, the false rumour would never have arisen.

He said the law says the fact speaks for itself, and any sensible person who saw the documents displayed before the court would not have reported that he forged them.

He said, “If you had seen the documents in question, it speaks for itself. Like the law was said, the fact speaks for itself.”

The former senator revealed that the reporter who filed the false report served him for eight years as governor in Imo and is still with Channels TV.

He said the reporter knows him very well, has his phone number, his wife’s number, all his children’s numbers and his aides’ numbers.

He added that the reporter’s children are in his daughter’s school in Abuja and he sees the reporter as family.

He said, “Tope knows me very well. He has my number. He has my wife’s number. He has all my children number. He has my aides number. So I see him as a family.”

Okorocha insisted that whatever transpired must have been a sponsored story and not true, adding that police would never say he was arrested.

He said he has demanded that all the media houses retract the story and send a public apology because it damaged his image in Nigeria and across the world.

He said, “I had asked all the media houses to please retract this and send a public apology because it doesn’t represent my image in the world and in the country.”

He concluded that he is still expecting letters of apology from the media houses concerned and thanked the court for vindicating him.
