Toluwanisings’ Family Threatens To Exhume Singer’s Body If Buried In Cemetery

The family of the late Nigerian gospel singer Toluwanisings has threatened that they will exhume his body if he is buried in a cemetery and not in his home.

In a now-viral video, Lawal Ademola Rauf, the singer’s paternal uncle, said he was speaking on behalf of the family, adding that they “are not interested in his property”.

Rauf said since there is disagreement over burying the singer in his own house, the family has agreed that his body should be brought to Ikirun, Osun state, and buried beside his mother.

He warned that if the singer is buried in a cemetery, the family would exhume the body, emphasising that he was sent by the entire family to deliver the message.

“We, the family of Sodiq, we are not interested in his property, not at all. This matter is going far,” he said.

“… what we want is that since everyone is not agreeing that he should be buried in his house, bring him to Ikirun to be buried. The whole family has stood up to say they must not bury Sodiq, popularly known as Toluwanisings.

“For that, they should be bringing him to Ikirun. If Sodiq is being buried in cemetery, we would exhume it, in the name of the whole family, I was sent, I am not the one talking. Don’t ever bury him in cemetery.

“We have concluded that we will bury him in Ikirun beside his mother. Since you said you cannot bury him inside the house that he built and we don’t want to know the reason, just bring him to Ikirun, we have agreed that you cannot bury him inside his house, he has a father’s house in Ikirun”

The singer, known for his hit song ‘A Very Big God’, died on October 14. The cause of his death has not been established.

Rauf had earlier called for his burial to be postponed pending an investigation into the cause of his death.

Babadunni Gbolabo, the singer’s personal assistant, also recounted his final moments.

He said Toluwanisings was “fine and in perfect condition” before he suddenly slumped.

He said attempts were made to resuscitate the singer, who was taken to eight hospitals in Ibadan, Oyo state, but they all refused to admit him, giving various reasons.
