Orlando Pirates Secures Court Order to Freeze R20.2 Million Linked to Former Finance Manager
Orlando Pirates has obtained a High Court order to freeze more than R20.2 million held in four bank accounts linked to its former finance manager, Darryl Brook Joselowsky.
The interim order was granted by the Johannesburg High Court on September 22, following an investigation into suspicious financial transactions involving the football club.
According to court papers, approximately R43.1 million was transferred from accounts linked to the club into the four flagged accounts between September 2016 and August 2026. A forensic analysis allegedly identified R20.2 million as unauthorised payments.
The club reportedly raised concerns after reviewing its financial records and identifying transactions that did not match expected supplier expenses. The court also ordered Standard Bank to provide detailed statements and information about beneficiaries receiving money from the accounts.
Pirates brought the application through its football club, retailing and properties entities. The purpose of the order is to preserve the disputed funds while the matter is investigated.
However, the allegations have not been proven in court. Orlando Pirates has stressed that the application is a precautionary measure and does not amount to a finding of wrongdoing against Joselowsky, who is reportedly cooperating with the process.
The matter remains subject to further legal proceedings.
