Millie Odhiambo Breaks Silence on ODM Wrangles Ahead of Sifuna’s Linda Mwananchi Launch

Suba North MP Millie Odhiambo has spoken out about the growing divisions within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), just hours before Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna is expected to launch the Linda Mwananchi Movement on Friday, October 30.

The outspoken legislator says she had warned the party against making decisions that could deepen its internal differences, but her concerns were not taken seriously.

Millie was particularly unhappy with the decision to expel Sifuna as ODM secretary-general and the political developments involving Embakasi East MP Babu Owino and Siaya Governor James Orengo.

Her remarks come at a time when ODM is facing questions about its future direction following the death of its longtime leader, Raila Odinga.

In a social media post, Millie appeared to distance herself from the ongoing political battles, saying she was entering a period of greater calm as she approaches her 60s.

She wrote that she had no opinion on current political issues and encouraged people to look through her previous comments to understand her position.

The statement has drawn attention because Millie was previously among the party’s strongest defenders, often speaking out in support of ODM during political debates and public rallies.

However, her recent distance from some party activities has raised questions about where she stands as the internal disagreements continue.

Some ODM supporters have challenged her to make her position clear, arguing that she should either support the party’s current direction or join those seeking a different political path.

Meanwhile, Sifuna is preparing to launch the Linda Mwananchi Movement on Friday, October 30. The event is expected to mark another step in efforts to establish the movement’s leadership and political direction.

The launch comes as political leaders continue positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 General Election, with alliances and party loyalties becoming increasingly important.

Millie has acknowledged Sifuna’s political progress but has not formally announced that she will join his movement.
