Lagos charges Public Servants to drive innovation, digital transformation.
The Lagos State Government has challenged to its workforce to shed conventional methods and embrace creativity, innovation and digital transformation to elevate public service delivery to world-class standards.
This call to action took center stage during a strategic engagement session for Cohorts 1 and 2 of the Public Service Accelerated Programme (PSAP), organized by the Office of Transformation, Creativity and Innovation (OTCI).
Addressing roughly 200 public servants drawn from various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), the Permanent Secretary of OTCI, Toyin Anjous-Ademuyiwa, emphasized that modern governance requires every staff to act as a creator and innovator.
“Public servants must at all times be creatively innovative for optimal and exceptional service delivery,” Anjous-Ademuyiwa stated, revealing ongoing plans by the state to fully digitize internal business processes and feedback mechanisms across the public service.
The interactive programme was designed to deepen participants’ understanding of the OTCI’s mandate while fostering a culture of knowledge-sharing, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Reinforcing this vision, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Establishment and Training, Toyin Atanda, underscored the critical role of institutional development in building a more responsive government that directly benefits Lagos State residents. She charged the cohorts to remain sharply focused on delivering a renewed standard of public service.
Echoing these sentiments, Olusegun Sanwo-Olu, Executive Assistant to the Governor on Project Implementation and Monitoring (PI&M), delivered an inspiring presentation titled “From Potential to Performance.” He noted that PSAP participants are pivotal to shifting the narrative from ordinary administration to operational excellence.
“Staff must remain dedicated to sustaining institutional transformation, strengthening public sector performance, and harnessing their talents so that Lagosians can fully enjoy the dividends of democracy,” Sanwo-Olu remarked.
The intensive engagement equipped participants with modern problem-solving tools, strategic approaches to administrative challenges, and frameworks for cross-departmental collaboration.
At the close of the sessions, participants from Cohorts 1 and 2 expressed renewed conviction to drive efficiency within their respective MDAs, signaling a proactive step toward a smarter, tech-driven and citizen-focused Lagos State public service
