Kenyan Man Reveals How He Earned KSh 286,000 Polishing Shoes for Wealthy Clients in US
A Kenyan entrepreneur has shared how he earned approximately KSh 286,000 during his first night polishing shoes in Las Vegas, United States, after some wealthy customers paid him far more than the advertised price for the service.
The man, identified as Serengeti Falcons, recounted the experience during an interview with Alex Mwakideu, explaining how what appeared to be an ordinary job turned into a surprisingly lucrative night.
According to Falcons, polishing a single shoe cost $11 (approximately KSh 1,500). However, some customers gave him $100 (about KSh 13,000) for the service, significantly increasing his earnings.
Falcons said he made $2,200, equivalent to approximately KSh 286,000, on his very first night doing the job.
“Nilienda Las Vegas, kazi ilikuwa ya kupiga rangi kiatu. So my first night, nilichapa kazi nikatengeneza $2,200. First night,” he recalled, explaining that he was surprised by the amount he earned.
He added that some of his customers were wealthy individuals, including celebrities, whose generous payments contributed to his impressive earnings.
“Ninapigia mtu rangi imeandikwa ni $11 kiatu moja, lakini wanakupea mia. Niliangalia, nikasema basi wacha Mungu aitwe Mungu,” he said, expressing his amazement at receiving much more than the stated price.
Falcons also recounted receiving advice from a man who was teaching him how to polish shoes. After learning how much the Kenyan had made in one night, the man cautioned him against disclosing his earnings, reportedly pointing to the financial challenges facing many people in Africa.
However, Falcons said he did not agree with the idea of keeping his earnings secret. He further revealed that he worked four days a week during the period.
Beyond his experience in Las Vegas, Falcons has since established himself in the business world. He is the chief executive officer of Discover Africa Safaris.
He has also spoken about his time working as a limousine driver in the United States, where he said he served high-profile personalities, including American rapper Snoop Dogg and media personality Oprah Winfrey.
His account of polishing shoes highlights an unexpected chapter in his journey, showing how a job with a modest advertised fee brought him substantial earnings through the generosity of his customers.
