Kennedy Agyapong Exposes The NPP Administration for Employing University Graduates Without Salaries
Kennedy Agyapong has raised concerns about the treatment of university graduates employed under government programmes during the previous New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration, citing allegations of poor remuneration and months of unpaid salaries.
At a community gathering, Agyapong revealed that some graduates from Ejisu and another constituency had complained to him about their working conditions.
He claimed that certain workers earned only GHS700 monthly, while others reportedly waited as long as seven months to receive their salaries.
Agyapong condemned the alleged situation, noting that low wages and delayed payments created serious financial difficulties for young professionals. He argued that the government should ensure workers receive fair compensation and are paid on time.
He urged the authorities to reassess youth employment programmes and develop policies that provide university graduates with meaningful, long-term employment.
According to him, young people should not be left struggling with uncertain incomes and limited career opportunities.
The politician further promised to address the challenges if he becomes the NPP’s presidential candidate and eventually wins the presidency.
He said his government would prioritise permanent employment opportunities, dependable salaries and career advancement for graduates.
His statements have attracted different reactions. Some party supporters have welcomed his willingness to address employment challenges, while others have questioned his motives, suggesting that the criticism could be aimed at undermining the former NPP government.
The development has brought renewed attention to the need for better graduate employment opportunities, fair remuneration and greater accountability in public-sector employment, particularly as the NPP approaches its presidential primaries.
