Imo West: ‘Presidency Tired of Nonsense’ – Okorocha Breaks Silence After Court Victory
According to a report by DAILY POST on Thursday 29 October 2026, former Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, has broken his silence following the Federal High Court judgment directing the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to recognise him as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the 2027 Imo West Senatorial District election.
The court ordered Governor Hope Uzodimma to stop presenting himself as the APC’s candidate for the senatorial seat and directed INEC to publish Okorocha’s name as the party’s authentic flagbearer.
Reacting to the ruling on Thursday, October 29, Okorocha described the judgment as a triumph of justice, expressing confidence that the court had addressed what he considered irregularities surrounding the electoral process in Imo West.
The former governor drew a comparison between the dispute and an alleged incident in which one individual reportedly wrote more than 300 election results, leading to a candidate who finished fourth being declared the winner.
According to Okorocha, the circumstances surrounding the Imo West contest reflected a similar pattern, making the court’s intervention a welcome development.
âJustice has finally prevailed; This was the same thing that happened when one person wrote more than 300 results, causing someone who came fourth to become number one,â he said.
Okorocha also praised the Nigerian judiciary for its handling of the case, describing the judgment as a demonstration of the importance of allowing the courts to address disputes arising from the political process.
He further suggested that the presidency was becoming increasingly unwilling to tolerate alleged political excesses, expressing the view that the ruling signalled a rejection of impunity.
âI appreciate the Nigerian judiciary, and it is evident that the Presidency is tired of this nonsense,â the former governor stated.
Following the court victory, Okorocha called on his supporters in Imo West to remain peaceful and celebrate the development.
The ruling has added a new dimension to the political battle over the APC’s senatorial ticket in Imo West ahead of the 2027 general elections.
However, the dispute remains politically contentious, with the APC reportedly insisting that Uzodimma remains its candidate despite the court’s directive; The party’s position sets the stage for further developments in the legal and political contest over who will represent the APC in the senatorial district.
