“If I knew then what I know now, I wouldn’t have had a child” – Nana Aba Anamoah
Ghanaian media personality Nana Aba Anamoah has sparked conversations about motherhood and the responsibilities of raising children after admitting that, with the knowledge and experience she has acquired over the years, she might have made a different decision about having a child.
Speaking on Starr FM’s Morning Star programme on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, the broadcaster said she was content with having one child and had no intention of expanding her family.
“I always wanted one child and this may sound controversial but I keep saying that if I knew then what I know now, I wouldn’t have even had a child,” she said.
Nana Aba explained that although she could have had a second, third or even more children, she had deliberately chosen to have only one because she wanted to provide her child with the best possible opportunities while also enjoying the rewards of her hard work.
“I could have had a second, third, fourth, fifth child but no, I don’t want that. I’m okay with one because I want to give that child the best of everything,” she stated.
The award-winning broadcaster further disclosed that she had completed paying school fees and was now focusing on herself and enjoying the money she earns.
“At the moment, I’m done paying school fees. So, the focus is on me. I’m enjoying my money,” she added.
Her remarks reflect her desire to maintain a balance between providing for her child and enjoying personal freedom after years of financial and parental responsibilities.
Nana Aba also cautioned people against naming their children after her with the expectation that she would provide financial assistance.
“Now, don’t name your child after me because you think that I have the means to take care of your child,” she warned.
Her comments have generated discussion about the financial demands of parenthood, the sacrifices involved in raising children and the importance of making personal family-planning decisions based on individual circumstances.
While her statement may appear controversial, the broadcaster’s remarks highlight the realities some parents face as they balance their children’s needs with their own financial security and personal aspirations.
