Having See My Daughter Dragged and Beaten, Her Husband Handcuffed, My In-Law Shot On Leg — Okorocha

Former Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha has accused Governor Hope Uzodimma of subjecting him and members of his family to humiliation, saying the experiences have not made him abandon the All Progressives Congress (APC), which he claims to have helped establish. Okorocha made the remarks during an interview on Channels Television on Thursday, October 29, 2026.

The former governor said he had endured experiences he considered deeply humiliating, including incidents involving his daughter, son-in-law, in-laws and a police officer. “No one in this country would take the humiliations I’ve taken. No one, I bet you, no one in this country or in this world would take the humiliation,” Okorocha said.

He went on to recount what he described as distressing incidents involving members of his family and people close to him. “Having seen my daughter dragged and beaten, her husband handcuffed, my in-laws shot on the leg. And my all the lay Samuel, a police officer, macheted with blood all over his body, and yet nobody could speak,” he said.

Despite the experiences he described, the former governor insisted that he would not leave the APC because of the dispute, maintaining that he had played a significant role in the party’s formation. “So I wouldn’t have left a party that I founded. I founded this party. The name APC was given by Rochas Okorocha. Ask anybody. And I was among the founding fathers of this party,” he said.

Okorocha also criticised Uzodimma over an event he described as an attempt to document the history of the APC’s formation in Imo State. “Though he went to Imo State to write a book on the party he didn’t know how it was formed. And took all the party chairmen and everybody, including all the leadership of the party, and went to a place, his so-called building, had a building in Imo State, the hall, and was writing a book on how APC was formed,” he said.

Okorocha further claimed that the building collapsed a day after the gathering took place. “Just a day after they left, the building collapsed. Thank God it didn’t collapse on the members. They were there in that story. Let’s say that I love peace. And these things are all bygone for me because my constitution. I don’t bear malice. I don’t bear malice,” he said.
