Chiefs star Reveals What Fernando Da Cruz Told Him About Showboating

Kaizer Chiefs youngster Mfundo Vilakazi has attracted attention for his flair and entertaining dribbling skills, but the attacking player must ensure his showboating contributes to the team’s performance.

Vilakazi has built a reputation as an exciting player who enjoys taking on opponents and entertaining supporters. His style has made him a fan favourite, although questions have been raised about when such skills are appropriate during competitive matches.

The discussion surrounding his approach has previously highlighted the balance between individual expression and the demands of professional football. At the highest level, dribbling and tricks can create opportunities, but they must also serve a purpose rather than slow down attacks or expose the team to unnecessary pressure.

Fernando Da Cruz, who took charge of Kaizer Chiefs, has spoken about the qualities he values in Vilakazi. The coach has expressed his appreciation for the youngster’s versatility, explaining that he can operate as a winger, forward or striker depending on the team’s tactical needs and the opposition.

Da Cruz’s comments point to the importance of using Vilakazi’s attacking ability within the team’s overall structure. His technical skills can be valuable when they help Chiefs move forward, create scoring opportunities and unsettle opposing defenders.

For Vilakazi, the challenge is to combine his natural flair with decision-making that benefits Amakhosi. Knowing when to take on a defender, when to release the ball and when to keep possession can make the difference between an entertaining moment and an effective attacking move.

Chiefs will hope the youngster continues developing his game while retaining the creativity that makes him stand out. With supporters eager to see him flourish, his progress will depend on how well he turns his individual qualities into consistent contributions.

The exact wording of Da Cruz’s alleged message about showboating could not be independently confirmed from the available FARPost coverage. However, the broader issue remains relevant to Vilakazi’s development as he seeks to establish himself as an influential player for the Soweto giants.
