Wandile Duba Fires Back at TS Galaxy After Kaizer Chiefs’ 3-0 Victory
Wandile Duba Hits Back at TS Galaxy After Scoring Hat Trick for Kaizer Chiefs
Kaizer Chiefs striker Wandile Duba has hit back at TS Galaxy following Amakhosi’s convincing 3-0 victory in the Carling Knockout Cup at FNB Stadium on Tuesday night, revealing that the Rockets’ social media comments had motivated the Soweto giants to deliver a strong performance.
The 22-year-old forward was the star of the evening, scoring a brilliant hat-trick to guide Chiefs into the quarter-finals. Beyond securing progression in the competition, the victory also gave Amakhosi an opportunity to respond to what Duba described as disrespectful comments from their opponents over the previous two weeks.
Speaking to SuperSport TV after the match, Duba explained that the players had taken notice of TS Galaxy’s social media banter and were determined to answer their critics on the pitch.
“These ones disrespected us a lot on social media for the past two weeks,” Duba said.
The striker added that Chiefs had entered the encounter knowing the importance of securing victory before delivering a pointed remark about the Rockets’ performance.
“We knew today that we had to win this game. The donkeys made them run today and they were nowhere to be seen,” he added.
Duba’s comments followed an impressive individual display that made him the standout performer in the encounter. His three goals helped Chiefs secure a comfortable victory and book their place in the Carling Knockout quarter-finals.
The result will also provide a welcome boost for head coach Fernando Da Cruz, whose team has faced pressure following inconsistent performances in other competitions. Advancing in the knockout tournament gives Chiefs another opportunity to compete for silverware this season.
Amakhosi will now await the quarter-final draw while looking to maintain the momentum gained from their victory over TS Galaxy.
Attention will soon turn to Saturday’s highly anticipated Soweto Derby against Orlando Pirates at FNB Stadium on October 31.
Following his hat-trick, Duba will hope to continue his scoring form against their biggest rivals, with Chiefs supporters expecting another influential performance from the young forward.
