Violent Attacks Erupts In Malumfashi, As Radda Flags-off Campaigns In Funtua

There was pandamonium in Malumfashi, Katsina state when supporters and other loyalists of the All Progressives Congress APC enroute to Funtua to witness the flag off of Tinubu–Dikko campaign in Funtua Zone on Wednesday, were attacked sustaining varying degrees of injuries and destruction of their property.

The victims, who told Daily Independent they were travelling in the convoy of Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, alleged that they were attacked by groups of miscreants and hoodlums while heading to the campaign venue, where the Governor was scheduled to present his administration’s scorecard.

Some of the affected supporters said mobile phones, clothing and other personal belongings were destroyed during the fracas, while several people sustained varying degrees of injuries.

According to the victims, the attackers armed with dangerous weapons freely attacked them for no just cause or provocation while the drama lasted until the officers and men of the police came to disperse the angry Youths.

One of the injured victim said “they were on their way to attend the campaign flag-off when they accosted some angry youths who attacked them with stones and bottles. Many people were injured, and our property were destroyed”.

The victims called on security agencies and relevant authorities to investigate the incident and bring those culpable to justice.

However at the Malumfashi town roundabout beside the Juma’at central mosque, stones were seen scattered across the road, while several vehicles reportedly had their windscreens damaged, affirming the earlier disturbances in the area.

Despite the unforseen incident, Governor Radda proceeded with the presentation of his administration’s Building Your Future scorecard, highlighting achievements recorded since assuming office and outlining ongoing projects across key sectors ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

The statewide campaign is expected to deepen grassroots engagement by taking the administration’s performance and development agenda directly to communities across the three senatorial zones of Funtua, Daura and Katsina, covering all the 361 wards.

As at the time of filing this report, there is no official statement on the reported attack from the government or the security agencies.
