Video of Yvonne Okwara Walking Down the Aisle With Husband Andrew Matole Emerges

Veteran journalist Yvonne Okwara has kept much of her personal life away from the public spotlight despite being one of Kenya’s most recognisable television personalities. As she begins a new chapter following her departure from Citizen TV, attention has also returned to her relationship with veterinary surgeon Andrew Matole, whom she married in December 2014.

Okwara’s love story began in an unexpected way. According to previous media reports, the journalist first met Matole when she took her sick pet to his veterinary clinic for treatment.

What started as an ordinary visit eventually developed into a relationship that culminated in marriage.

The couple exchanged vows on December 6, 2014, in a private ceremony held at Crowne Plaza Hotel, Nairobi.

At time, Okwara was 31, while Matole was 47, making their 16-year age difference subject of discussion

However, Okwara previously defended their relationship, explaining that outside opinions did not determine the quality of their marriage.

She also described Matole as her best friend, saying they enjoyed a close relationship. The journalist has also maintained that couples should make personal decisions about marriage and parenthood without giving in to pressure from society.

Unlike many public figures who regularly share romantic moments online, Okwara has generally preferred to keep her husband away from the spotlight.

In a previous response to a social media user, she explained that Matole was free to manage his own social media accounts.

Their relationship has nevertheless attracted renewed attention over the years, including media reports in 2024 alleging that the couple had separated.

Her private approach to relationships has remained consistent even as her journalism career has placed her before millions of viewers.
