Vehicle Stole In The Morning Was Found In The Night While Being Smuggled Out Of SA To
The suspect abandoned the stolen Nissan Navara double cab and fled on foot after a spectacular chase along the R22 route in KwaZulu-Natal, but a multidisciplinary police operation managed to recapture the truck.
Police in the uMkhanyakude District recovered a stolen car on Monday, October 26, 2026, after an operation that had been reported earlier in the day in Durban North.
Police in Hluhluwe later that evening discovered a vehicle matching the description of the Nissan Navara, which had been reported stolen at Durban North SAPS earlier that day.
Police officials tried to stop the car as it was heading near Mbazwana on the R22.
The motorist reportedly sped up as soon as he saw the cops, setting off a chase that would draw in officers from several departments.
As the car sped toward the Mbazwana police station, officers from that station joined the pursuit, and policemen from Manguzi were also sent out to help catch the fleeing driver.
At Phelandaba, the planned reaction finally paid off as they cornered the Nissan Navara.
However, the interception was not the last step of the operation. According to reports, the driver got out of the car and ran away on foot, evading capture by the authorities.
A copied ignition key was found during the following examination of the recovered car by the police. The theft of the car and its subsequent journey across northern KwaZulu-Natal are under investigation, and this new finding may contribute to that probe.
This recovery shows how critical it is for police departments to work together and communicate quickly in the event of a stolen car.
Timely reporting, precise vehicle descriptions, and the rapid reaction of law enforcement authorities are often crucial in the recovery of stolen goods, which is a major worry for motorists due to car theft.
In this instance, the suspect was unable to get off with the car thanks to the vigilance of Hluhluwe police and the aid of their colleagues in Mbazwana and Manguzi.
They will keep looking for clues to figure out what happened and who was responsible for the event.
