“Tutam Bila Conditions,” McOure Rebels Against ODM Leaders Demanding 50-50 Deal from Ruto
ODM politician Kasmuel McOure has launched a pointed attack on leaders within his own party over the conditions some of them are attaching to their support for President William Ruto’s re-election bid, arguing that the public grandstanding is making a mockery of ongoing coalition negotiations.
The criticism lands at a sensitive moment. Several ODM figures have been demanding a 50-50 split of government positions, plus the deputy president slot currently held by Kithure Kindiki, as the price for backing Ruto in 2027.
McOure saw a contradiction he could not ignore. If a joint committee is quietly working on a pre-election agreement between ODM and UDA, why are party leaders still litigating their demands at every rally with a microphone?
“Our leaders tell us that a joint committee is working on a pre-election coalition agreement between ODM and UDA, and that we therefore need not worry or speak about it. If that is the case, why is it that whenever they get a microphone in public, all they say is that they will work with President Ruto ONLY IF certain conditions are met?” he said.
He went further, questioning whether those conditions had ever actually been tabled at the negotiating table.
“Were these conditions not discussed at the negotiating table? Or are we to understand that our negotiating team could not resolve in the boardroom what our leaders now insist on litigating at public rallies? Surely, what is the point of a joint committee if every rally becomes another round of negotiations?” McOure added.
Having skewered the conditions game, the politician then made his own position unmistakable, declaring his support for Ruto without a single precondition.
“Ruto tunampea TUTAM BILA CONDITIONS. Usawa Ni Sawa. Mbele Pamoja,” he said.
His remarks expose a widening rift inside ODM between leaders ready to back Ruto on open terms and those holding out for specific concessions, with the deputy president seat shaping up as the most explosive sticking point. As 2027 draws closer, expect more of these internal battles to play out in public rather than in the boardroom.
Should ODM back Ruto unconditionally or hold out for a 50-50 deal? Tell us in the comments.
