Ruto’s 6pm Announcement Sparks Speculation as Mysterious Stadium Video Emerges

State House Kenya has confirmed that President William Ruto will deliver a recorded major announcement on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, at 6pm East Africa Time (EAT). However, officials have not disclosed the subject of the address, sparking speculation about what the president intends to announce.

Press Secretary Emmanuel Talam issued a media alert inviting Kenyans to follow the address through Ruto’s official social media platforms, including YouTube, Facebook, X, Instagram and TikTok.

A 27-second teaser released alongside the announcement has drawn attention to what appears to be a stadium. The video features sweeping shots of red and green seating, with the date, October 28, 2026, and the time, 6pm, displayed on the screen.

In another scene, the president’s shoe is shown resting on a football on the pitch. The clip concludes with a title card reading “Major Announcement,” followed by the date and time, before displaying the State House Kenya emblem.

The footage has fuelled speculation that the announcement could be connected to Talanta Stadium in Nairobi, a 60,000-seater facility currently nearing completion. A National Assembly committee recently reported that the stadium was 94% complete, with handover projected for December 31.

However, State House has not confirmed whether the venue featured in the teaser is Talanta Stadium or whether the announcement concerns the facility.

The announcement comes as Ruto is in Moscow, Russia, to attend the Third Russia-Africa Economic and Humanitarian Forum. According to State House, his visit focuses on expanding markets for Kenyan exports and attracting foreign investment.

Domestically, attention has also centred on the evolving political relationship between the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Ruto previously authorised formal coalition talks with ODM, with joint committees established to develop a common framework and manifesto.

The president has also pledged to preserve the legacy of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and previously proposed naming Talanta Stadium after him.

Nevertheless, State House has not linked the upcoming address to the stadium, the proposed UDA-ODM partnership or the president’s engagements in Russia. Kenyans will have to wait until 6pm for official clarification.
