Philanthropist Alhaji Seidu Agongo Partners with NEIP To Empower Ghanaian Youth

In an impressive demonstration of corporate social responsibility rooted in human potential, Ghanaian businessman and philanthropist Alhaji Seidu Agongo, in partnership with the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP) led by CEO Eric Adjei, Esq., has officially commenced the distribution of 10,000 sewing machines to youth across the country.

The landmark initiative kicked off at the Madina Astro Turf, Lybia Quarters, Accra, where an initial batch of 830 sewing machines were presented to beneficiaries, marking the start of a transformative nationwide project.

Addressing the vibrant gathering of young beneficiaries, community leaders, and dignitaries, Alhaji Seidu Agongo delivered a moving address that shifted the conversation from traditional charity to self-reliance, character, and economic destiny.

Reflecting on the deeper motivation behind his philanthropic work, Alhaji Agongo urged the audience to look to nature for lessons on living with purpose and impact.

“If you look at nature very carefully, nature is giving. The sea gives us fish, and what do we give to the sea? Rain comes, and what do we give? Nothing,” he observed. “When you understand the reality of nature—that it is all about giving—your world expands. Helping someone solve their problem brings continuous growth and grace into your own life.”

He emphasized that the initiative is not a commercial venture or a marketplace transaction, but a mission born out of pure intention to help young Ghanaians realize their potential.

“I’m not doing this as a business. I don’t need anything from this. I am doing this because I want you to fulfill your destiny, maximize your existence, and become the very best version of yourself so you can lift your families up,” he added.

Challenging traditional societal expectations around formal employment and academic grading, the renowned philanthropist urged young people to embrace vocational skills, entrepreneurship, and creative endeavors.

Pointing out that government alone cannot solve youth unemployment in a nation of 34 million people, Alhaji Agongo stressed that waiting for corporate or public sector jobs with application letters is no longer enough.

“A sewing machine costing around 1,000 Ghana Cedis has the power to generate millions over a lifetime and sustain entire families,” he stated, highlighting the resilience of fashion and garment production. “There are fashion designers charging 30,000 to 40,000 Ghana Cedis per dress today. The tailoring and design industry will never collapse—it is a lifelong asset.”

He also encouraged young people to leverage digital tools, mobile phones, and content creation to generate legitimate income and contribute meaningfully to society.

Revisiting his own school days, Alhaji Agongo offered a candid perspective on academic metrics:

“Our education system often creates unnecessary competition. The Minister for Finance and I sat in the same classroom. If I had been judged strictly by classroom grades, where would I be? I am a businessman—my path is different. We must evaluate ourselves by the unique potential within us, not just by who came first or second in a exam.”

Concluding his speech, Alhaji Agongo made a passionate appeal for integrity, describing dishonesty as one of the biggest bottlenecks to sustainable enterprise in Ghana. He urged the beneficiaries to guard their tools, respect partnerships, and build their businesses on trust.

“Destiny starts now. Do something for yourself and build good relationships rooted in honesty. Let us come together, understand the reality of life, and fashion our path in a way that helps us all grow together.”

He expressed deep gratitude to Eric Adjei, Esq., CEO of NEIP, and the entire team for championing the vision without hesitation.

With the first 830 tools now in the hands of aspiring tailors and designers, the NEIP and Alhaji Seidu Agongo partnership stands as a beacon of public-private collaboration—proving that when vision meets action, lives and communities are permanently transformed.
