New Twist as Former Meru Governor Names One Opposition Politician Who is Visiting Ruto at Night
Former Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza has accused former Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mithika Linturi of maintaining links with President William Ruto while publicly associating with the opposition ahead of the 2027 General Election.
In remarks shared on Wednesday, October 28, Mwangaza claimed Linturi visits Ruto at night to collect money before presenting himself as an opposition supporter during the day. She questioned his political loyalties, using sharp language to challenge him to declare which side he supports.
Mwangaza also revived the controversy surrounding the fake fertiliser scandal, referring to Linturi as “Mr Fake Fertiliser” in her criticism. Her remarks come amid speculation about Linturi’s political allegiance as he seeks the Meru gubernatorial seat in 2027.
Linturi has previously dismissed claims that he intends to abandon the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) and return to the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
On October 12, he rejected allegations shared by Kamukunji parliamentary aspirant Alinur Mohamed, describing them as propaganda. Linturi has also worn DCP merchandise while meeting elders at his Meru home, signalling his continued association with the party.
