Ndlozi and Dlamini-Zuma Spotted in Moscow for Russia-Africa Summit

South African political commentator and former Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) Member of Parliament Dr Mbuyiseni Ndlozi has been in Moscow, Russia, alongside ANC veteran Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, as discussions surrounding the Russia-Africa Summit draw attention to the continent’s diplomatic and economic relationships.

Ndlozi shared an update on his presence in Moscow on Tuesday, 27 October 2026, identifying Dlamini-Zuma as the prominent South African figure accompanying him. Their appearance comes as representatives from across Africa gather in the Russian capital to discuss cooperation, development and the continent’s position in an increasingly complex international environment.

The third Russia-Africa Summit is scheduled for 28 and 29 October, bringing together African representatives and Russian officials to explore opportunities for stronger partnerships in areas including trade, investment, energy, agriculture, education, infrastructure, science and technology. According to reports, 48 African countries have confirmed their participation.

Ndlozi has recently expressed strong views on Russia’s historical contribution to African liberation movements. In an interview published by RT ahead of the summit, he argued that Russia’s historical role in supporting the liberation of African countries deserves recognition. He also emphasised the importance of African unity and self-reliance in determining the continent’s future.

Meanwhile, Dlamini-Zuma, a former chairperson of the African Union Commission, has also spoken about the importance of African-led development. During engagements in Moscow, she highlighted Ethiopia’s development experience and the need for greater confidence in Africa’s ability to shape its own future.

Their presence comes at a time when African countries are seeking to expand international partnerships while advancing domestic economic priorities. The summit provides a platform for discussions on how these relationships can translate into practical benefits, including investment, industrial development, technology transfer and improved infrastructure.

Although Ndlozi’s brief update did not detail the specific engagements he attended with Dlamini-Zuma, their appearance in Moscow has placed two recognisable South African public figures within the broader conversation about Africa’s international partnerships.

As the summit gets underway, attention will turn to whether discussions between African and Russian representatives produce concrete agreements capable of supporting sustainable development across the continent.
