Kaduna APC Rally: NDI-ABAT Explains Why Umahi Stopped Speaking
The NdIgbo for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu 2027 Forum (NDI-ABAT) has dismissed social media claims that Minister of Works Dave Umahi was humiliated during the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign flag-off in Kaduna State, attributing the interruption of his speech to a faulty microphone.
In an official press release dated October 27, 2026, the forum said the incident was caused by a technical malfunction and should not be interpreted as evidence of political tension or deliberate embarrassment among APC leaders.
NDI-ABAT congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the campaign flag-off, describing the event as a gathering that attracted a large number of supporters.
According to the forum, members of its Northern delegation who attended the event confirmed that the microphone developed technical problems while Umahi was delivering his address, forcing him to discontinue his speech.
“Nobody embarrassed Umahi. A faulty microphone must not become a manufactured political controversy,” the organisation stated.
The forum cautioned against drawing premature conclusions from videos circulating on social media, warning that allegations of deliberate humiliation or internal conflict within the APC should not be presented as established facts without credible evidence.
It urged APC stakeholders and supporters to remain focused on the party’s political activities, maintain mutual respect and avoid distractions arising from unverified claims.
NDI-ABAT also called for responsible political discourse, stressing the importance of distinguishing verified information from speculation, particularly during political campaigns.
The forum further reiterated its commitment to engaging Ndigbo in national political discussions and encouraging informed participation in Nigeria’s democratic process.
It said its preparations were continuing ahead of the APC presidential campaign rally scheduled for November 9, 2026, in Ebonyi State.
The statement was signed by Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, National Coordinator of NDI-ABAT, and Dr. Ugwuoke Ugwuoke Jr., the forum’s Secretary-General.
The group maintained that the microphone incident should be treated as a technical problem rather than evidence of political humiliation, urging the public to allow facts, rather than speculation, to shape the narrative surrounding the Kaduna rally.
