Fernando Da Cruz Breaks Silence on Kaizer Chiefs Board’s Support Amid Pressure

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Fernando Da Cruz has thanked the club’s leadership for continuing to support him and his technical team, maintaining that their long-term project remains on course despite the challenges facing the Soweto giants.

The French coach acknowledged the backing he has received from sporting director Kaizer Motaung Jr and the club’s board, explaining that their confidence gives the technical team encouragement as they work to improve the team’s performances and results.

Da Cruz emphasised that regular communication between the coaching staff and the club’s leadership is an important part of their working relationship. He explained that meetings are held to review the team’s progress, assess performances and identify areas that require attention.

According to the coach, the support of the leadership remains important regardless of the results achieved on the pitch. Whether Chiefs win, draw or lose, the technical team must continue evaluating its performances, identifying weaknesses and finding ways to make the squad stronger.

His comments come amid growing scrutiny of Amakhosi’s performances, with supporters eager to see the club return to consistent winning ways. Expectations remain high at Naturena, where fans want the team to challenge for trophies and re-establish itself among South Africa’s leading football clubs.

However, Da Cruz believes building a competitive team requires commitment, patience and continuous improvement. He noted that the sporting director and board have opportunities to observe the technical team’s dedication and assess the work being done behind the scenes.

The Chiefs coach also expressed his belief that the team has suffered unfortunate outcomes in some of its drawn matches. He suggested that Amakhosi deserved to collect maximum points in certain encounters but failed to turn their performances into victories.

Injuries have created additional difficulties, affecting the coach’s available options and preparations for matches. Despite these setbacks, Da Cruz has maintained that the challenges will not derail the club’s ambitions.

Instead, he remains committed to continuing the project, with the technical team focused on improving the squad and producing better results as the season progresses.

The continued backing of the club’s leadership could prove important as Chiefs attempt to build momentum and meet the expectations of their supporters. Nevertheless, Da Cruz will ultimately be assessed on the team’s performances and achievements on the pitch.

For Amakhosi supporters, the coach’s message is that he believes he retains the confidence of those in charge and that the work to improve Kaizer Chiefs is continuing.

The major question now is whether that support and commitment will translate into the consistent performances and victories that the club’s fans have been hoping to see.
