David Okoth Odhiambo Fires Gor Mahia To Fourth Straight League Win

Gor Mahia maintained their perfect start to the 2026/27 FKF Premier League season after securing a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Kakamega Homeboyz at Bukhungu Stadium on Wednesday.

David Okoth Odhiambo scored the decisive goal in the 68th minute to hand the record Kenyan champions their fourth consecutive league victory and keep them top of the standings with 12 points.

The result extended Gor Mahia’s winning run after earlier victories over Murang’a Seal, APS Bomet and Bandari FC, reinforcing their strong start to the new campaign.

Kakamega Homeboyz had hoped to use home advantage to become the first team to take points off the league leaders this season.

However, they were unable to find a response after Odhiambo broke the deadlock in the second half.

Homeboyz entered the encounter with four points from their opening two matches, having beaten Mombasa United 1-0 before drawing 1-1 with Ulinzi Stars.

Their scheduled fixture against Tusker FC had been postponed because of Tusker’s CAF Confederation Cup commitments.

Wednesday’s defeat denied the Kakamega-based side an opportunity to move closer to the leading teams, while Gor Mahia continued to build momentum in their pursuit of another league title.

The victory also underlined Gor Mahia’s ability to grind out results in challenging away fixtures, with Odhiambo’s second-half strike proving enough to secure all three points.

With four wins from four matches, Gor Mahia remain the team to beat in the early stages of the FKF Premier League campaign.

The Nairobi-based giants will now look to maintain their impressive form as the competition progresses, while Kakamega Homeboyz will aim to recover in their next league assignment.
