The Premier Soccer League [PSL] has officially confirmed the draw for the Carling Knockout Cup quarter-finals following the conclusion of the tournament’s Round of 16 fixtures on Wednesday night.

The draw was conducted immediately after the final Last 16 encounter between Durban City FC and Stellenbosch FC at Chatsworth Stadium in Durban, broadcast live on SuperSport Channel 202 and SABC Sport.

The Round of 16 action kicked off on Saturday, 24 October, with Golden Arrows becoming the first side to book a quarter-final spot. The KwaZulu-Natal outfit delivered an emphatic performance, defeating Chippa United 4-0 at the King Zwelithini Stadium in Umlazi.

Later that evening, Siwelele FC secured their place in the last eight after edging Polokwane City FC 4-3 on penalty shootout, following a 0-0 deadlock after extra time at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane.

On Sunday, 26 October, AmaZulu FC handed newly promoted Betway Premiership side Kruger United a narrow 1-0 defeat at Mbombela Stadium in Mpumalanga.

In Sunday’s final game of the Last 16, Sekhukhune United booked their quarter-final ticket with a convincing 3-1 victory over Richards Bay FC at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane.

The remaining Round of 16 matches took place mid-week, featuring South Africa’s ‘Big Three’ all in action simultaneously on Tuesday night, 27 October.

Orlando Pirates cruised into the next round with a comfortable 3-0 win over Milford FC at the Orlando Amstel Arena in Soweto.

Meanwhile, Kaizer Chiefs matched that scoreline at Soweto’s FNB Stadium, hammering TS Galaxy 3-0, while Mamelodi Sundowns fought hard to secure a 1-0 victory against Marumo Gallants at Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria.

The final fixture of the Round of 16 concluded on Wednesday, 28 October, where Stellenbosch FC defeated Durban City FC with a 2-0 win at Chatsworth Stadium.

The winner of the Carling Knockout Cup will walk away with a grand prize of R6.85 million, while the runners-up will receive R2.85 million.

The PSL will announce the official dates, venues, and kick-off times for the quarter-final clashes in due course.
