Apartment Building With Balconies That Have No Visible Doors Sparks Debate Among Kenyans

A video showcasing an apartment building with unusual balconies has sparked debate online, with Kenyans questioning the purpose of the structures that appear to have no visible doors connecting them to the apartments.

The building features several balconies along its exterior, but the video has left viewers puzzled because no obvious access points can be seen. The unusual design has prompted questions about whether the balconies are functional or were included mainly for decorative purposes.

The footage has attracted reactions on social media, with some users raising concerns about architectural planning and the need for residential buildings to combine appearance with practicality.

One commenter questioned the reasoning behind the design, asking, “What’s the essence of those balconies when they have no doors?”

The question reflected the confusion expressed by viewers who struggled to understand how residents would access the outdoor spaces from inside their apartments.

Balconies are common features in modern residential buildings. They can provide occupants with fresh air, outdoor relaxation space and views of the surrounding area. Depending on the design, they may also improve natural ventilation and enhance a building’s overall appearance.

However, when such structures appear inaccessible, their intended purpose can become difficult to understand, particularly when viewers cannot see the building’s internal layout.

Some social media users have used the video to highlight the importance of ensuring that architectural features serve a practical purpose rather than simply improving a building’s exterior appearance.

Nevertheless, the absence of visible doors in the footage does not necessarily establish that the balconies are unusable. The building’s internal design, access arrangements and construction plans have not been confirmed.

The video has therefore generated curiosity about the thinking behind the unusual architectural choice.

As discussions continue online, the incident has drawn attention to the role of proper planning in residential construction, with many people emphasising that functionality and safety should remain important considerations alongside aesthetics.

Without further information about the building, the exact purpose of the balconies remains unclear.
