Ablakwa is going NO WHERE! – Franklin Cudjoe defends minister over evacuation controversy

IMANI Africa boss Franklin Cudjoe has defended Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa against calls for his resignation over alleged financial irregularities in the evacuation of Ghanaians from South Africa.

In a post defending the minister, Cudjoe said his critics had failed to convince Ghanaians that Ablakwa had committed a crime in the evacuation exercise.

“None, no one shouting and making noise has so far been able to convince any sensible Ghanaian that the Foreign Minister has committed any crime in the humanitarian evacuation of Ghanaians from South Africa,” he wrote on social media.

Cudjoe dismissed the criticism as noise and described Ablakwa as one of Ghana’s most effective foreign ministers since 1992.

“Ignore the noisy gang whose presentations are at best passing for entertainment of clowns in a bazaar! Hon Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa is going NO WHERE!” he added.

His comments come after the Minority Caucus in Parliament demanded Ablakwa’s immediate resignation or dismissal over alleged financial irregularities in the evacuation of Ghanaians from South Africa.

At a press conference on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, the caucus, led by Foreign Affairs Ranking Member Samuel Abdulai Jinapor, questioned the Ghc49.72 million reportedly spent on evacuating 1,964 Ghanaians between May 27 and September 4, 2026.

The Minority also questioned the quoted $750,000 cost of a charter flight, arguing that similar Boeing 787-900 arrangements typically cost between $150,000 and $180,000, or up to $400,000 with emergency charges. The caucus threatened to pursue a vote of censure if Ablakwa failed to step down.

Cudjoe, however, maintained his support for the minister, describing him as “our most diligent, effective, efficient and impactful Foreign Minister since 1992.”
