As part of efforts to unite the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State ahead of the 2027 general elections, former Senate Leader, Senator Teslim Folarin, on Wednesday visited immediate past Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu.

Folarin disclosed this in a statement following the visit, during which the two politicians discussed party unity, reconciliation and strategies to strengthen the APC’s structures across the state.

According to Folarin, the meeting also focused on grassroots mobilisation and their commitment to President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid and the success of other APC candidates in 2027.

He said both leaders agreed to work with other party stakeholders to revitalise the party’s structures and promote reconciliation across Oyo State’s 33 local government areas.

The meeting comes amid efforts by the Oyo APC to resolve internal disagreements and consolidate its support base ahead of the next general elections.

Adelabu was among the party’s prominent figures who contested its 2026 governorship primary but lost the ticket to Senator Sharafadeen Alli.

Folarin, who represented Oyo Central Senatorial District for three terms and served as Senate Leader, was the APC’s governorship candidate in the 2023 election. He lost to Governor Seyi Makinde, who contested on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The former lawmaker has since taken up the role of Oyo State coordinator of Tinubu’s 2027 presidential campaign, with a mandate to mobilise support for the president and other APC candidates.

Folarin’s meeting with Adelabu forms part of broader efforts to bring party leaders and aggrieved members together as the APC seeks to address internal divisions and strengthen its structures across Oyo State ahead of the 2027 elections.
