Serwaa Amihere is trending for the wrong reasons after her advice to women about fake designer items backfired badly.

The media personality and lawyer spoke at The Complete Ignite Woman session on Sunday, October 25, 2026. She told young women to stop buying fake designer bags, wigs, and shoes just to look rich.

“You know what you are wearing is not gold, it’s copper, but you pack plenty on you. Why? It’s very offensive,” she said. She used Birkin bags as example, saying original costs over $25,000 while fake sells for GH¢300 at Kantamanto. She advised ladies to wear affordable clothes and wait until they can afford original.

But the comment did not sit well with many Ghanaians and celebs.

Afia Schwarzenegger was the first to descend heavily on her. In a viral video, Afia said Serwaa has no right to talk about fake things when people have questioned her own lifestyle. She threw shots about fake bodies and fake lifestyle, saying “your own b0tt0cks” and other things are not real.

Efia Odo also fired. In a TikTok video, she said hiring should be based on qualifications and degrees, not whether someone wears fake Birkin or not. She said Ghanaians judge people too much by appearance, and many jobs in Ghana cannot even buy a $30,000 Birkin.

Mzbel also joined, throwing her own jabs, while some lawyers on social media said Serwaa’s comment was offensive and classist.

The backlash was heavy. Ameyaw Debrah described Serwaa’s speech as “very offensive” on X. Other Ghanaians fired her in the comments.

“Like, because I can’t afford 24-carat gold, I shouldn’t wear necklaces?”

“Hmmm, when life favours you, you think others are lazy.”

“How many jobs in Ghana can make you afford a Birkin worth $30k?”

What started as advice against fake bags, fake teeth, fake b0tt0cks, and fake lifestyle has now turned into a full-blown celeb war, with Serwaa Amihere at the centre and Ghanaians dragging her online non-stop.
