Wamuchomba Says the Problem With Ruto Is That He Appoints Politicians to His Cabinet

Githunguri Member of Parliament Gathoni Wamuchomba has criticised President William Ruto over his Cabinet appointments, arguing that he chooses politicians instead of professionals capable of delivering results in government ministries.

In a statement shared on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, the MP argued that ministries require individuals with the capacity to deliver on their responsibilities and translate government plans into tangible results for Kenyans.

Wamuchomba also accused the President of repeatedly making promises despite allegedly knowing that he would not fulfil them. She said the continued pledges had become exhausting, expressing frustration with what she described as a pattern of unfulfilled promises.

“The problem with Ruto is that instead of appointing people who can deliver in ministries, he appoints politicians. He also keeps making promises while knowing very well that he is lying, and it is exhausting,” Wamuchomba said.

Her remarks add to the criticism directed at Ruto’s leadership and his administration’s approach to governance, particularly from the opposition, as the next general election approaches.

Wamuchomba has become a fierce critic of President Ruto just a few weeks after defecting from the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA). The Githunguri MP has accused the Head of State of neglecting key sectors, including agriculture.

Ruto, however, has continued to defend his administration, stating that he has promoted equality in the distribution of national development projects. He maintains that every part of the country is benefiting from development and that no region feels marginalised.

Ruto’s administration has been building roads, modern markets and affordable houses across the country. He is using these projects to drum up support for his re-election.
