Toluwanisings’ Wife Breaks Down in Tears During Late Singer’s Tribute Night in Ibadan

According to a report by The Punch on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, the wife of late Nigerian gospel singer Olayemi Bayonile Bolaji, popularly known as Toluwanisings, broke down in tears while paying tribute to her husband during a memorial event in Ibadan, Oyo State.

A video from the tribute night, held on Tuesday at Jogor Centre, showed the widow struggling to continue her speech before she was overcome by emotion.

The event attracted several gospel musicians and entertainers who gathered to honour the late singer and celebrate his life.

Among those present were Esther Igbekele, Laolu Gbenjo, Akintayo Akinwande, SB Live, Bidemi Olaoba, Mr Gbera, Peterson Okopi and Sarah Apekeola. Nollywood actress Bimbo Oshin was also in attendance.

Toluwanisings died in the early hours of October 14, 2026, after reportedly slumping in Ibadan. His death has since generated public concern, with questions raised about the circumstances surrounding his final moments.

Following the incident, his personal assistant, Babadunni, alleged that the singer was taken to seven or eight hospitals but failed to receive adequate medical attention at some facilities.

However, the University College Hospital, Ibadan, stated that it had no record of the singer being brought to its facility. The cause of his death has not been publicly established.

Beyond the questions surrounding his death, disagreements have also emerged over his burial arrangements.

Reports indicated that his father, Muniru Adekunle Olayemi, wanted his son buried either in the house he built or beside his late mother in Osun State. A dispute was also reported between the singer’s family and his wife over the burial plans.

Meanwhile, his grandmother, Sabitiyu Olayemi, had alleged that the singer neglected her for years. A man who identified himself as his uncle, Lawal Ademola, also called for an impartial investigation into the circumstances of the singer’s death.

The emotional tribute night came amid the grief and unresolved family concerns following the gospel singer’s passing.
