Stop Showing Off Expensive Bags, Your Salary Can’t Afford Them – Sally Mamm Tells Serwaa Amihere
Ghanaian media personality Sally Mamm has started a serious conversation online after taking a direct swipe at popular broadcaster Serwaa Amihere over her expensive lifestyle and brand ambassador role.
In a video that has gone viral, Sally questioned how Serwaa can afford the expensive designer bags she is always seen carrying.
According to Sally, everyone knows how much journalists earn in Ghana. She argued that the salary from journalism alone is not enough to afford the kind of luxury bags that cost thousands of dollars, and therefore Ghanaians have the right to ask questions about how she funds such a lifestyle.
She said many young girls look up to media personalities and when they see such luxury, they think it is coming from their journalism work, which is not true.
But Sally did not stop there. She also took a swipe at Serwaa’s work as a toothpaste brand ambassador.
She questioned why a toothpaste company would choose someone who has fake teeth to advertise their product. According to Sally, it does not make sense for a brand that is supposed to promote healthy, natural white teeth to use an ambassador who does not have natural teeth.
“How can you promote oral care when you have fake teeth? What are you teaching people?” she quizzed.
Her comments have sparked massive reactions on social media. The video has been shared widely, with many people divided.
Some social media users agree with Sally Mamm. They say public figures must be honest and brands must be careful when choosing ambassadors, because people trust what they see. They argue that if you are selling natural beauty, you should represent it naturally.
Others, however, have defended Serwaa Amihere. They say Sally is being jealous and trying to bring another woman down. They argue that a person’s source of income is not anyone’s business and that having fake teeth does not stop someone from promoting good oral hygiene.
For now, Serwaa Amihere has not officially responded to the attack, but the debate has raised bigger questions about celebrity lifestyle, fake life pressure, and how honest brand endorsements should be in Ghana.
