Soludo Advocates Production-Driven Economy, Says Nigeria Can Create Over 10 Million Jobs

According to a post shared on Anambra State Governor Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo’s official Instagram page, @ccsoludo, on Monday, October 26, 2026, the governor has called for a shift towards production, innovation and investment to accelerate Nigeria’s economic growth and create employment opportunities.

Soludo made the call while participating in the 32nd Nigerian Economic Summit in Abuja, where he highlighted the need to harness the country’s natural resources, human capital and entrepreneurial potential to improve living standards and expand economic opportunities.

The governor emphasised that Nigeria must move away from an economy driven largely by consumption and focus more on productive investments capable of generating wealth, creating jobs and strengthening local industries.

He also stressed the importance of cooperation among the three tiers of government, alongside policies that promote exports, develop domestic value chains and attract investments into sectors where Nigeria has a competitive advantage.

Soludo further underscored the importance of patronising locally manufactured goods, using his choice of Akwete fabric to illustrate how supporting indigenous products can increase demand, empower local artisans and create employment opportunities.

Highlighting developments in Anambra State, the governor reported that the state’s free education programme in public schools had reduced the out-of-school rate from 2.5 per cent to 0.25 per cent. He presented the development as an example of how deliberate policies and sustained investment in education can improve human capital.

Soludo maintained that Nigeria could generate more than 10 million jobs by prioritising local production, supporting domestic industries and investing in goods and services produced within the country.

He noted that transforming Nigeria’s resources into productive ventures would help build a stronger, more inclusive and resilient economy while creating lasting prosperity and improving the quality of life for citizens.
