Ruto Launches Masinga Road as He Outlines KSh25 Billion Machakos Investment
President William Ruto has launched construction of the Kangonde-Masinga-Kaewa-Kithyoko road, while outlining a KSh25 billion investment in road projects across Machakos County.
In a statement on his official social media accounts, the President said the government is building 10 new roads covering a combined 360 kilometres in the county.
He also said road construction across Ukambani covers 700 kilometres, placing the Machakos projects within a wider infrastructure programme serving the region.
Ruto identified Masinga Constituency as the location of the launch. However, his statement did not specify the individual cost of the Kangonde-Masinga-Kaewa-Kithyoko road or give its expected completion date.
The KSh25 billion figure covers the wider Machakos road programme. The announcement did not provide a separate allocation for each of the 10 roads.
The launch formed part of the President’s development engagements in Ukambani. According to a tour programme reported by Nairobi Leo, the visit was scheduled to cover Machakos, Makueni and Kitui counties between October 24 and October 26.
The itinerary placed the Masinga road launch on Sunday, October 25, followed by engagements concerning the Matuu-Kyasioni road in Yatta Constituency.
Road infrastructure also featured prominently in the planned Makueni activities. These included the launch of the Wote-Kako-Ngoluni road and the commissioning of the Tawa-Ngoluni-Itangini road.
In Kitui, the programme included the planned launch of the Twimia-Tseikuru-Usweni road in Mwingi North and an inspection of Enziu Bridge in Mwingi Central.
Beyond roads, the itinerary listed water projects, electricity connections, housing, student accommodation and the issuance of title deeds. These were scheduled activities, and the programme alone does not establish that every project was launched or completed.
For the Masinga project, Ruto’s statement confirms his announcement of the construction launch. It does not establish how much work has been completed.
The contractor, construction period and detailed funding arrangements for the Kangonde-Masinga-Kaewa-Kithyoko road were not included in the announcement.
