Ride-hailing drivers declare sit-down strike over high fees from Nov 5
The Digital Transport Workers Union (DTWU), which represents drivers working with ride-hailing platforms such as Bolt, Yango and Uber, has announced a sit-down strike from November 5, 2026, to protest high service charges and poor working conditions.Speaking to Citi News on Tuesday, October 27, the union’s National Vice Chairman, Mahama Inusa, accused the companies of increasing service fees without consulting drivers, despite initially describing their relationship as a partnership.
