I Ran Away From Nigeria, I Was Processing My Papers Not To Come Back To Nigeria โ€“ Chidinma Ekile

According to a report by Daily Post on Tuesday October 27, 2026, popular Nigerian singer Chidinma Ekile has disclosed that she once “ran away” from Nigeria before leaving secular music for gospel music.

The singer made the revelation while speaking at a recent event organised by Eezee Conceptz, where she recounted her decision to travel abroad and her initial plans to remain outside the country permanently.

According to Chidinma, she was determined not to return to Nigeria and began processing the necessary documents to secure permanent residency abroad. However, her plans did not work out as expected, forcing her to reconsider her decision.

The gospel singer explained that her experience overseas marked an important period in her life before she eventually returned to Nigeria and began a new chapter in her musical career.

Chidinma also revealed that while she was outside the country, the Chief Executive Officer of Eezee Conceptz was the only person from Nigeria who consistently contacted her.

She explained that the continued communication played a role in her decision to establish a working relationship with the music executive after returning home.

Recounting her experience, the singer said, “I travelled. I ran away from Nigeria. I was processing my papers not to come back to Nigeria, but for some reason, it didn’t work.”

Her account offers a glimpse into the personal circumstances surrounding her time abroad and the events that preceded her transition from secular music to gospel music.

Chidinma initially gained recognition in Nigeria’s entertainment industry through secular music before embracing gospel music and dedicating her talent to Christian worship.
