Good News Hits Ghanaians As Sam George Announces Massive DStv Sports Package Price Cut
The Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, has announced plans to reduce the price of DStv’s sports package in Ghana from GH¢875 to GH¢250 per month.
If implemented, the new price would represent a reduction of GH¢625, equivalent to approximately 71.4 per cent of the current subscription fee. The change could provide significant financial relief for households that spend money on pay-TV services to follow football, boxing and other major sporting competitions.
The issue of DStv subscription costs has generated considerable public discussion in Ghana, particularly among football supporters who believe that the existing charges make access to premium sports content difficult for many households.
Samuel Nartey George has previously been involved in efforts to address these concerns. Last year, he led discussions between the Ghanaian government and MultiChoice Africa regarding subscription prices and the value customers receive from their television packages.
For sports enthusiasts, the anticipated reduction could make it easier to watch major competitions without placing as much pressure on household budgets.
